A couple years ago I had an accident, I had some injuries but thought that I was o.k., in reality I sustained some damage in my retina and eventually visited an opthamologist. I found out through several lab test that my retina was damaged and I had Uveitis, which is inflammation of the retina. Through time I had several procedures to correct my vision but it did not help it only got worse. My doctor's eventually told me that they were unable to do more to improve my sight, one doctor mentioned stem cell treatment but he said, we do not have this technology in the U.S. I returned home with a determination to find how to receive stem cell treatment and decided never to stop searching for help, I know where hope is not lost, victory is ahead. Several years later in 2008, I saw a segment on "The Doctor's Show" where they interviewed a teenager that had ONH, her parents took her to China where she received stem cell treatment over several weeks and eventually regained over 75% of her sight. I was able to contact Carol Pertersen, an advocate who helped me in receiving infromation on the Beike's technologist center in China where I will go to be treated for my visual imparment as soon as we raise the funds.
